Every so often, a game comes along that not only surprises me but becomes one of my favorite games of all time. It’s rare - especially as of late - that it happens, but when it does? I can’t help but gush about the game and Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! is one such game. Not only is this one of the coolest and best games I’ve played so far this year? It’s also, quite easily, my third favorite game of all time and a prime contender for my game of the year. I’m serious, I’ve never had a game that made me smile this hard and gave me this many hours of fun since Earth Defense Force 2025. Yeah, there were games in between that release and this one that I had fun with and that also made me smile, but not to the extent I did with this title. Would you like to know more?

Remember Catlateral Damage? The game where you play as a psychotic cat destroying everything on site? Ever wanted the same type of game but, instead of a cat, you’d play as a dog or a bird? That’s where Messy Up comes into play: A fun, if somewhat lacking and slightly boring, party-style game where you make your owner’s life a living heck as you destroy their home.

The 80’s was an era of some incredible memories. We had the birth of many amazing horror films, we saw the rise of heavy metal, and video games really started to take off. As a child of the 90’s, I missed out on many classics from that era, so I’m thankful many publishers and developers are bringing many of these titles to modern systems either with new collections or remakes. However, that doesn’t mean all the games from that time were pieces of art and, sadly, The Monty Mole Collection is one such case. Originally developed by Gremlin Graphics for the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64, this collection includes the original trilogy of Wanted: Monty Mole, Monty On The Run, and Auf Wiedersehen Monty, along with three bonus games by the names of Monty Is Innocent, Sam Stoat: Safebreaker, and Moley Christmas (which was given away as a free games in copies of Your Sinclair magazines back in the day). Now, while it’s always awesome to see older games make a comeback and I’m all for game preservation, that doesn’t mean that every game aged well and this is one of those cases.

Bubsy. If there is any name that brings dread and hatred to gamers, it’s Bubsy. In the entire history of gaming, I don’t think there’s any series that has as much undeserved hatred as the Bubsy series. Ever since I can remember, I’ve seen nothing but negativity and vitriol towards this series: From AVGN to JonTron to even Top Ten lists of the Worst anything, it seems Bubsy was destined to be the internet’s punching bag. And yet? Yet, there still seems to be a fan base, as evident by the upcoming release of Bubsy 4D and the release of the topic for this review: Bubsy In: The Purr-Fect Collection, the latest collection release from Limited Run Games and Atari. Now, I have never played any of these games before this collection came out. Heck, I never knew of their existence until the rise of sites like YouTube and the early days of game reviewers, as well as sites like GameTrailers, so back then? The most I knew about the series was that they were bad. Yet, in the back of my mind, I always wanted to try these games and actually see if they were terrible or not as bad as people made them out to be. Well, after finally trying the games for myself, I can safely and quite honestly say: These are not terrible and I don’t think they are deserving of their infamous reputation. In fact, I actually really liked the games and think they might be actual hidden gems.

Back in 2025, I did a review for a game called PAW Patrol World; a game I said I was pleasantly surprised by and actually really enjoyed playing, giving it a 4/5 score. Since then, I’ve been on the lookout for other games based on this show, hoping to have maybe another surprise and hopefully find a children’s game that anyone, regardless of age, could enjoy. Which is when I heard about Paw Patrol Rescue Wheels: Championship and I got, admittedly, a little excited. As a fan of racers since the N64 golden years of Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing (which I wish Nintendo would do a new entry for), and the Rush games (another series I wish would make a comeback), I was looking forward to checking this out and hoping this would be another great kids game. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case as this turned out to be just an average racing game that really doesn’t do anything new and, sadly, feels like a step down from Paw Patrol World.

Whenever I browse the Xbox storefront, I’m mostly looking for sales on games I’ve missed out on or possible hidden gems I can recommend to gamers. Rightfully, Beary Arms is one such title and it’s one that really took me by surprise. Not just because I kept calling it “Rightfully, Bear Arms” but because its simple premise hooked me right from the get go.

Despite being a rather slow month for major releases, January does, once in a while, sneak in a surprise or two. The oddly titled 2XKO, a fighting game from the makers of League Of Legends and one I’ve called 2KXO more times than I can count, is one of those surprises of the month. Now, I’ll freely admit I know next to nothing about League Of Legends: I never played the MOBA, I never paid much attention to the lore, nor have I watched the Netflix series Arcane. The most I know of the series is the song ‘Get Jinxed’, which I’ll admit is a pretty darn catchy tune, so a lot of the in-game lore and references I won’t be delving into and, instead, will just be focusing on the game itself. Which, spoilers, is quite possibly one of the more fun fighting games I’ve played in a good while.

Annihilus has invaded the galaxy from the Negative Zone and is threatening to destroy all life as we know it (so, a typical Tuesday in the Marvel Universe). It’s up to a team of heroes to band together to stop Annihilus in Marvel Cosmic Invasion: the latest 2D side-scrolling beat-’em up from the creators of TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge. However, instead of being another smash hit for the studio, Cosmic Invasion falls short and, instead, delivers a very mediocre and by the numbers game that fails to live up to their predecessor.

Ever wondered how it’d feel to work on a farm run by a feline deity that, shockingly, doesn’t want world domination? Well, Cat God Ranch is here to answer that question. From CrazyPotato Studios and originally released on PC, this is a charming little game with some cute ideas but is bogged down by a glaring difficulty problem that hurts an otherwise enjoyable title.

Let me start this review by saying that I’m really not the biggest fan of the Jurassic Park franchise. I’ve read the first book back in middle school and seen some of the first Jurassic Park at a young age but that’s about it. Truthfully, the first film kinda freaked me out at that young age and scared me to the point where I won’t even watch the series at all (Silly, I know). I also haven’t really kept up with the gaming side of the franchise, but occasionally one does enter my radar. Which is where Jurassic World Evolution 3 comes in: The third entry in the park building Evolution series. I do want to stress that I’ll be approaching this review as a casual park builder player so I won’t be going too in-depth with what’s on offer. With that being said, this is a fun game but it has some issues that I feel may hurt the enjoyment for many casual gamers.
