Nintendo Power Hour!
A much anticipated Nintendo Direct finally premiered on June 18th, 2024. With it, came news about a variety of upcoming releases for the Nintendo Switch happening in Q3 and Q4 of the year. A lot of fun games had been announced both first and third party with several coming soon. Lets look at some of the highlights.
Mario saves the day again!
Mario & Luigi: Brothership was the first title announced and it's the first brand new entry in the series that began with Superstar Saga on the GBA in 2003 since Paper Jam in 2015. Brothership releases on Nov 7th later this year!
Super Mario Party Jamboree is the latest in the Mario Party series and said to be their biggest one yet! With multiple new minigames and boards(including a racing themed one reminiscent of Mario Kart) and a number of playable characters like Mario, Bowser and Yoshi, this is one party you don’t want to miss! Releases on October 17th of this year.
Furry Fun!
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a fun little foray into the tropical. Explore the mysterious island, solve puzzles and enjoy a nice getaway with the adorable Hello Kitty characters. Embark on this lovely vacation in 2025
Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is a remake of the Wii game originally released in 2010. Join Donkey and Diddy Kong as they adventure to get their bananas back from the villainous Tiki Tiki Tribe. Releases on Jan 16th of next year!
Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports has players join the iconic Tunes in a variety of sports games including Basketball, Soccer and Tennis! Coming to Switch this Fall
Stray is a 2022 game originally released for PS4 and PS5 and follows the tale of a cat who falls into a mysterious new city filled with robots. Will the cat find its way home? Find out when the game releases on Switch in Holiday 2024.
Funko Fusion is an adventure game in a world of Funko Pops. Play as a very unique assortment of characters from a wide variety of franchises in this game jam packed with pop culture goodness. Releases on September 13th, 2024
The Power of Anime remains strong
Relive the beginnings of an iconic franchise when the stunning 2D HD remake of Dragon Quest III releases on November 14 2024. The other entries of the Erdrick trilogy, Dragon Quest I & II will be coming in 2025
Farmagia has players take the role of a trainer and raiser of monsters to fight an evil magnus and defeat other monsters! Raise your own from what looks like a solid variety of creatures. Coming November 1st 2024!
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is another remake of a Japan exclusive title originally released in 1993. Now brought to life in 3D and full voiced, build an empire and defend it against the corrupted Seven Heroes in this tactical RPG. Releasing on October 24, 2024
Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero tells the story of Marona as she seeks to save her friend Ash. Summon Phantoms and fuse them with a variety of objects to defeat enemies in turn-based battles. Coming in 2025
Last but definitely not least
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has players step into the shoes of Zelda(!) in a first for the franchise. Solve puzzles and defeat enemies using a mysterious rod capable of creating echoes of objects and enemies in a cutesy chibi style previously seen in the Link’s Awakening remake. Releasing on September 26th 2024!
Finally, the much anticipated Metroid Prime 4: Beyond received a trailer. It releases in 2025 so fans are going to have to be patient and wait a little longer to follow Samus along on her latest deep space adventure.
